Background “Snapshot”
1. Where did you grow up?
South Carolina (Columbia, Rock Hill, Summerville, Charleston)
2. What sports if any did you play growing up, through college and beyond?
I play a lot of soccer until I realized that I was obsessed with Baseball. Once that didn’t workout I started racing Mountain Biking and doing triathlons. Once I got out of high school its mostly been running and a little surfing. I’ve been skiing since I was 4 years old and started snowboarding last year in when we lived in California.
3. How old were you when you had your first beer?
Probably 10, not so impress with it.
4. If you can recall, what is the story of your first beer? Where did you have it? What style and brand was it?
Trying my parents Old Milwaukee.
5. Where, if applicable, did you go to college? What did you study? What additional activities, organizations, sports did you partake in during college?
The Citadel, Charleston, SC. Business, but I spent a lot of time the last two years of school getting into computers. It was a military school so we just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Craft Beer Epiphany
Every craft beer enthusiast has at least one pinnacle craft beer experience that completely changes ones perspective on beer. I refer to this mind-blowing moment as a “craft beer epiphany.”
1. What was your first craft beer epiphany? Recall as many details about it as you can:
I knew early on in my beer drinking that I liked to experiment and try everything. Moving to Boston was a big part getting exposure to better beer. After I’d been drinking lots of Harpoon, Magic Hat and Sam Adams, I had a Lagunitas IPA at Bukowski’s and it simply blew me away. I just loved the bitterness and aroma.
2. Have you have additional craft beer epiphanies since the first? Detail as many of them as you wish:
When we moved to LA, I fell into a rut and was buying a lot craft beer I didn’t like. Then I had a New Belguim 1554, still wonderfully, made me want trying as many new beers as possible. It also coincided with the idea to create BeerFingers web application.
Beer Blog Background
1. How long have you been writing your beer blog?
Since January 2010, I do video because my writing blows and it much easier for me.
2. What inspired you to start writing your blog?
The Blog is a precursor to releasing my web application BeerFingers. The background is that I’m a runner and don’t get a chance to drink beer that often because it interferes with long runs. I can’t remember shit so I need an easy and accessible way to track my beer experiences. About 9 months ago I realized that I wanted a mobile phone and simple web application that would allow me to keep track of beer. That application is BeerFingers. I hope to have an early private release version available in late April or early May. This not another beer review site, personal I don’t give a shit what rob1234 has to say about X Beer. No 250 word minimum.
3. Why did you chose the name of your blog?
Endeavoring to be clever, memorable and not boring.
4. What are you personal goals for your blog?
What do you hope to achieve with it? Interact with the community and learn more about beer.
5. What is one of the coolest things that happened to you as a result of being a beer blogger?
I force myself to buy expensive beers and try them.
6. What are you top 3 favorite beer blogs/beer websites?
I avoid all news because I think it’s a complete waste of time but beer news can been interesting if it comes from Thehopry.com, hop-cast.com, twobeerqueers.com, & hoptopia.com. BeerWench readership is implied.
Beer Talk
1. What are your top 3 favorite beer styles?
IPAs, Dark Belguims, Imperial IPAs
2. What are your top 3 favorite breweries?
I don’t play favorites but if I had to. Southern Tier, Mikkeller, Coast Brewery(South Carolina)
3. If you could work with or for any one brewery, which one would it be and why?
New Belgium, awesome environmental policies and snowboarding.
4. Are you a homebrewer? If yes, what is the most unique and interesting beer recipes you’ve brewed as a homebrewer?
No, I live in Manhattan and brewing seems like baking. If you screw up any step your hosed. I stick to drinking and programming.
5. Do you have any beer certifications (BJCP, Cicerone, Siebel, American Brewers Guild)?? If so, what are they?
Hah, no more school for this guy. Books are enough. I like to learn at my own pace and experience is way better than a classroom.
6. What is your favorite beer and food pairing?
French Fries and Peanuts.

Systems Administrator for a luxury hotel chain, I basically manage servers and networks for corporations. When I first came to NY I worked at the NFL.
