Readers, I would like you to meet my new friend Mr. Asahi, beer robot extraordinaire:
The world’s first robotic bartender debuted today at the London department store, Selfridges.
Mr. Asahi, named after the Japanese beer, can serve pints in under two minutes. Priced at £100,000 ($200,000 usd), Mr. Asahi’s robotic beer services do not come cheap.
The robot was built specifically for Asahi Beer and will mostly serve as a marketing tool. In addition to opening beer bottles, a computer inside Mr Asahi controls compressed air — which provides the animatronics required to pull a pint.
The robot also has LED lights which move from green to red as he strains to removes bottle tops.
